While some families are opting out of Elf on the Shelf entirely, one family is taking it to the next level with a life-sized Elf on the Shelf. The Wynberg family has a cult-like following on Facebook, with followers everywhere waiting to see FLE's next move. FLE isn't your ordinary Elf on the Shelf. He's human-sized and up to no good.
Parents Megan and Joe Wynberg stage the elaborate photo shoots after their four kids go to bed. Last year FLE seemed pretty harmless, stealing the children's advent calendar chocolate and hanging from an outside window.

This year, however, it seems to me that FLE is trying hard to creep us out. He took a page out of The Shining with this 2016 debut:
Mom Megan Wynberg said "Ok FLE, I get it, you're pissed off that I left you outside for 7 days in that box but "The Shining", really!" You already look creepy enough. If this is any indication of the torture you will put my house through, you might not last these next 23 days. Now to get a new door...and so it begins."
Busting through a door" Now that is commitment.
My 5-year-old is the prime age for Christmas fun. He spends every evening talking about how he will spread the joy of Christmas the next day and every morning begging to run downstairs to see what our elf, Cupcake, is doing.
