Make a black-and-white toddler room in less than 100 square feet

Monochrome home decor is somehow both of the moment and a bit timeless. Target gets me every time they produce a black-and-white line. Their new Cloud Island nursery collection is no exception.
So how do you put together a room for a toddler based in black and white" Here's how to create a monochrome toddler room with pops of color in less than 100 square feet.
Begin with a neutral backdrop
Our 2-year-old's room is small -- less than 100 square feet -- so every inch counts because cribs and changing tables are natural space hogs. Neutral walls make the room feel larger and have a calming effect. I painted the walls a light grey color and kept the trim white.
You can even add the illusion of a built-in by painting a bookcase or storage unit the same color as the walls. This is just a simple Threshold storage unit painted with leftover paint from the walls. I kept the furniture all white to make what otherwise might be a small, dark room as light and bright as possible.
Choose double duty furniture
If you're pressed for space like we are, choose furniture that can serve multiple purposes. A changing table like this one acts as a spacious dresser for clothes and supports a changing pad up top. We're just weeks away from popping that changing pad top off as we start potty training. For now, we added a handy caddy for diapers, wipes, and toiletries. You could also add a set of these stylish wall pockets to store your diapering supplies...
