Make these adorable balloon hair clips
by Laura Falin posted in Life & Home
This project is kinda brilliant, because with one inexpensive bag of balloons, you can make hair accessories that match just about anything.
It's also easy, and requires little to no artistic ability, and I haven't really seen many kids wearing hair clips like these. And because it's such a simple craft, kids can make their own in every color of the rainbow.
These balloons are small and tempting and definitely a choking hazard for small children, so I would only do it with elementary-school aged kids and up.
Balloon Hair Clips
Supplies:
small or medium sized hair clips (found at craft stores)
small balloons
Instructions:
Remove the bridge in the middle of the hair clip.
Tie balloons, one at a time, around the spine of the clip, with both ends facing outward. You may have to pull hard to stretch your balloon long enough to tie a knot, but that's okay since we're not inflating them anyway. We don't care if they tear a little.
Repeat doing this until the clip is covered with balloons. Replace the bridge and that's it! You're done. This goes super-quickly with the smaller hair clips, and obviously takes a little longer with the larger ones.
You could do different colors for different outfits or holidays -- orange and black next month for Halloween, maybe" Or red and green for Christmas.
