Make these necktie Krispie treats for Father's Day
by Lindsay Weiss posted in Life
I saw an insanely cute pic of these on Pinterest one day and decided to let the kids have a go at them. As per my usual luck with Pinterest, they never look as cute as the pic, but the kids LOVED the process of making these. I thought if mine did, yours might too.
All I did was supervise the making of the Krispie treats and did some of the sharp cutting -- my kids did everything else!
You don't have to make your Krispie treats from scratch. You could totally do a mini version of these using the packaged version. But we wanted some big ones, and I love a good homemade Krispie treat. We made a 9x13 pan and cut into 12 big bars.
Neck Tie Krispie Treats
These look better if you can find white Airheads for the collar. We only had cherry and watermelon, so that's what we used! Homemade or packaged Rice Krispie Treats
Individually-wrapped Airheads candy (two different colors)
You will need to cut three different types of pieces for each bar: the tie, the collar, and the knot. (See pic.)
For the collars, cut one Airhead in half lengthwise. Fold into a triangle shape.
To make the ties, use a sharp knife to cut out the shape of a tie. You may only be able to get one tie out of each piece of candy. Do not discard the leftover pieces- you will need them for the tie knots.
With the leftover pieces, cut out small diamond shapes that match the color of each tie.
Place the tie on first, collar on top, then gently press the knot in place. ENJOY!
