Make Valentine cards with a secret message!

We don't make a huge deal about Valentine's Day around here. I think maybe the first year we were married, my husband and I might have gone all out with flowers and dinner and...did he buy me jewelry" I can't even remember. That's bad, right"
This might explain why now it's a pretty low-key affair. Besides, it's hard to have an actual date on Valentine's Day when you have kids. You need to make reservations, and track down a sitter, and shower and put on real pants.
So we have a nice dinner at home, with the kids. We all make each other cards, and I might get everyone some chocolates and we call it a day.
We've got a few cards done already. We're on a Valentine-making, secret-message-writing kick around here. Along with these Valentines, which my kids had a blast making, we got a little craftier and busted out some watercolors for some watercolor resist Valentine's Day cards.
Paints are always a hit with the kids. Watercolors, temperas, whatever -- when I bring out the paints, everyone always has a good time. Watercolors might be my favorite because they're easy to clean up afterward, and the kids' ones usually won't stain clothing.
Watercolor Resist Cards:
Supplies:
cardstock, watercolor paper, or other paper for making cards
white crayon
watercolor paints
paintbrushes
cup of water for rinsing brushes

Begin by folding your card the way you want it.
