It's been pretty obvious that Pharrell Williams' wife was pregnant, but oh my golly -- it was with triplets! Word broke Tuesday morning that the musician and Helen Lasichanh welcomed not just one, not just two, but three babies earlier in January!
A rep for the 43-year-old confirmed the news to Vanity Fair on Tuesday, adding that mother and children are "healthy and happy." As of now, the names and sexes of the new arrivals have yet to be publicly announced.

You may recall that Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh's firstborn (who is now a big brother 3x!) has an unusual name. Explaining the thinking behind naming their now 8-year-old Rocket, the Despicable Me composer explained in 2014: "In the same way the Indians named their children after a force or animal or element. We named him after a man-made machine that was meant to go up, meant to ascend." Long ago I had the opportunity to meet Pharrell, and I'm pleased to say he was as nice in person as you would hope. I'm also utterly shocked to hear today's news! Sure, there are plenty of celebrities who have twins, but I'll be darned if I can't think of a single star who has triplets off the top of my head.
For the most part I encourage parents not to worry about how an older child will react to the addition of a sibling, but there is something about an 8-year-old becoming a big brother to triplets that makes me pause. I can only imagine how much time those babies...
