Mom keeps daughter's memory alive with Build-a-Bear

When Anna Pakiz?s daughter, Caroline, passed away from a lifelong illness, keeping her memory alive became Anna's mission. She kept her word this past Christmas when she created a Build-a-Bear for her older brother Gavin. The special gift included a recording of Caroline?s voice.
?When he opened it on Christmas morning his reaction was priceless, he absolutely LOVED it,? Anna told BabyCenter. "That's amazing! How did Santa do that"!" Gavin said.

The precious gift was an unexpected surprise for Gavin since the unexpected loss of his 5-year-old sister in July 2016. According to Anna, Caroline was born with Hollow Visceral Myopathy. It?s a rare disease that can affect the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract and occasionally the urinary tract.
Caroline?s family wasn?t aware of her condition for years, which eventually put a lot of stress on the family.
?In the beginning, we just knew she was sick and getting sicker. She spent a lot of the last three years of her life in the hospital,? Anna said.
But the tough times brought them closer. The ongoing battle with Caroline?s disease made them stronger.
Still, her death came out of nowhere. ?While we knew Caroline was very sick and that there was essentially no cure or specific treatment for her disease, her death was sudden and came as a...
