Mom warns parents after vacuum cleaner severely burns toddler

A UK mom is speaking out about one lesser-known vacuum cleaner danger, after her toddler son was left with a fourth-degree burn.
Jade Bishop wasn't sure if she wanted to share her story at first, for fear of criticism and backlash. But she went ahead and detailed the traumatic tale of her 16-month-old son's accident on Facebook, complete with graphic photos. Her words of caution have been shared more than 10,000 times since Sunday.
Bishop was vacuuming her home earlier this month while her little guy followed and occasionally "helped" by pushing the cleaner. She switched off the vacuum when they had finished and turned around to unplug it from the wall. That's when it happened.
"I hear Theo turn it back on, turn my head to hear him screaming," Bishop wrote. "I yank the plug from the wall and he has managed to put his thumb in the bottom of the Dyson where the bristles spin at a crazy speed, I go to him quicker than I ever have to see he's got a nasty looking burn on his hand!"
"I get him straight to the minor injuries unit (crying my eyes out panicking) thinking we would be dressed, bandaged and sent on our way to heal," she wrote.
Instead, Theo was referred to a children's hospital to see burn specialists and plastic surgeons. The toddler wound up with a fourth-degree burn and possibly exposed tendons. Bishop told BabyCenter that her son is actually scheduled for a skin graft tomorrow. He co...
