My biggest dream for my children (and it isn?t success)
by Whitney Barthel posted in Parenting
Let?s be honest for a sec. In our heart of hearts, we all want our kids to grow into happy professionals, living in a comfortable home with 2.5 children and a timeshare at Disney World. It?s the American dream.
While my young boys are currently dreaming of growing up to be Minions, I am hoping they will settle for careers as physicians working for Doctors Without Borders...but I don't want to be too particular.
Doctors or not, my biggest dream for my children may (or may not) be different than those of other parents. For my children, I honestly dream of only two things. First, I dream they'll be kind to all people. Second, I want my kids to just do their best, whatever they're doing -- even if it's not something that will impress other people. I feel if you can accomplish these two things, you will have no regrets in life. Do right by the universe and it will do right by you.
For our family, as fourth (and fifth) generation farmers we have held true to kindness and hard work. And as farmers, we also know that our ability to work is fueled first by what we put into our bodies.
When we aren?t growing our own food I look to foods that are comparable in quality and, if at all possible, from companies whose values align with ours. This is particularly true of dairy products, as we are dairy farmers...and pretty much dairy experts.
Lucky for me, there is a product that I consider even better than fresh-off-the-farm. Stonyfield YoBaby O...
