My semi-homemade approach to starting solids

We're officially introducing solids with Liam now after a green light from our pediatrician (he's 5 months). My oh my have things changed since our last one...which was only 6 years ago!
My approach is very simple and making baby food is NOT that time consuming. I make 2-3 different veggies every Sunday prep day by using a frozen steamed bag and a blender. Our go-to veggies in steam bags are peas, carrots, and green beans. You can buy organic varieties, if you choose. I thin out the foods with formula before I feed them to Liam. Aside from those veggies, I'll mash avocado or banana with a fork or use store-bought (no sugar added!) applesauce.
For more time-consuming foods like butternut squash or for more unique flavor blends, I love the new flavors available from Parent's Choice at Walmart [note, this isn't a sponsored post, that's just the brand I use]. I like to call my feeding approach "semi-homemade" because I do a combination of both homemade and store-bought. The most time-consuming aspect of this is waiting for the veggies to cook in the microwave. 6 minutes, everyone...that's it! Since my other 3 kids are older, the girls help feed Liam if I'm making dinner or packing lunch boxes. He usually doesn't eat at the same time as the family, but he will sit in his highchair with a rice husk or little teethers.
