Nuna ZAAZ highchairs recalled, injuries reported
by Joyce Slaton posted in Products & Prizes
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, baby gear maker Nuna has recalled 5,600 highchairs in the United States and 350 in Canada.
The recalled highchairs have a removable arm bar that can bend or detach with a child in the chair, posing a fall hazard. Nuna has received 50 reports of the arm bar detaching; 6 of the reports involved children falling from the highchair, resulting in bruises and a cut to the forehead in 4 of the cases.
Zaaz highchairs look like a hybrid of a regular dining room chair and a traditional highchair, with removable arm bars, footrests, seat pads, trays, and harnesses that allow the chair to be converted into one suitable for toddlers. Look for the word "Nuna" printed above the footrest, and under the seat for a white sticker with the model number. BabyCenter's Recall Finder lists the model numbers affected by the recall. The recalled highchairs were sold from February 2013 to November 2015 at Giggle, Magic Beans, Albee Baby, Giggle, Nordstrom, and other specialty stores in the U.S., as well as online at Nuna.eu, Wayfair.com, and other websites. They cost between $250 and $300 and were made in China.
If you find the model number of your highchair on the list: immediately stop using the recalled high chairs and contact Nuna for a free replacement arm bar and instructions on how to install it.
