You already know all the items that belong in your postpartum bag, from a loose nightgown to butt-soothing spray, squirt bottles to comfy underwear.
But there?s one piece of outdoor gear you might want to slip in there too.
The Go Girl is a ?female urination device,? which makes it sound more intimidating than it really is. Essentially it?s a soft silicone cup that allows a woman to pee while standing. So if you've ever had to go but didn't want to cop a squat, urine luck.
Here?s how it works: Hold the Go Girl to your body and pee. It's that simple. Urine goes in one side and comes out the other, just like having your very own lavender-pink polymer penis.
Because it?s made from soft, medical-grade silicone, it forms to the shape of your body. When you?re finished, either wash and dry the cup, returning it to the case, or (if you don?t have access to a sink) slip it inside the accompanying baggie to wash later. I carried a Go Girl on my backpacking trip around the world, and it folded up small enough that I could slip it into a purse or daypack.
Although I rarely used it, there was a certain comfort that came from knowing I could skip a sketchy bathroom or pee off the side of a boat. Since then I have also carried the Go Girl to Coachella (the portable bathrooms are rough toward the end of the festival).
