Parents name newborn baby girl Eclipse, because of course they did

A baby born on Aug. 21 -- the day a total solar eclipse captivated the entire nation -- has earned a fitting moniker. In honor of the extremely rare astronomical event, a South Carolina couple has named their brand new baby girl, wait for it: Eclipse.
For proud parents Freedom and Michael Eubanks, the unique name choice for their second child was a last-minute decision; they had originally intended on naming their daughter Violet. However, this plan changed when they were en route to the hospital after Freedom went into labor.
?Just on the drive here, trying to keep her mind off the contractions, I was like, ?Hey, if she?s born during the eclipse, we?re going to name her Eclipse,'? Michael told WSPA 7News. ?And I was like, I actually like that,? Freedom said.
The couple agreed to pay tribute to the total eclipse if Freedom ended up delivering on Monday. And that she did. Baby Eclipse arrived at 8:04 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Hospital, weighing in at 6 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.
?I kind of felt like it was meant to happen, to have her on this day,? Freedom told WSOC TV. We?re probably going to call her Clipsey."

This is such a fascinating name choice, to me. If I were to give birth on the day of a solar eclipse, I think I might have settled on a more low-key tribute -- like Eclipse for a middle name. Or perhaps, one of these (more traditional) eclipse-...
