On June 6, Jacee Dellapena was thrilled that her mother allowed her to be a part of her baby brother's birth. But little did the 12-year-old from Mississippi know she'd be doing a lot more than watching the miracle of life unfold -- she'd actually help deliver her newborn brother!
Jacee was at the hospital with her mother, Dede, shortly before the big moment, when the preteen grew upset that she couldn't get a good view because of her height. "Doctor Wolf said, 'Why don't you just let her suit up and deliver the baby"'" Dede, told WBTV. "And I said 'What" No!'"
Although having her 12-year-old daughter assist with the delivery wasn't originally part of the plan, Dede gave the go-ahead. The look on her daughter's face during this unforgettable moment is simply priceless. After Jacee suited up, the doctor guided her hands through the birth. She also had the honor of cutting her newborn brother's umbilical cord. "I actually, like delivered him, like, he let me actually push down and pull the baby out," Jacee told WBTV. "I was like, wow, like I've played fake doctor before, but this is, like, the real thing, this is is the real deal. I was really nervous."
Mom Dede has said that while Jacee had dreams of one day becoming a veterinarian, this amazing experience might have inspired a future as an OB-gyn.
