Photos: Rainbow twin girls born after loss of twin boys

I recently lost a baby at around 22 weeks, so I know the otherworldly pain of excitement about new life vanishing, and emptiness taking over. It's a cruel feeling mom Joshe Kerr is all too familiar with, but times two.
She lost identical twin boys, Cash and Zack, at 20 weeks. "They were about one pound each. We were heartbroken," Joshe told BabyCenter. "Then surprisingly, [we] became pregnant with the girls three months later," she told us. "The girls are fraternal twins."
Photographer and newborn safety advocate Melissa Adams captured this beautiful image of the double blessings, Avery and Cecelia, adorably holding one another's hands, and seemingly floating on a fluffy cloud at the end of a colorful rainbow.
"My rainbow babies were born May 20, 2016 weighing 6 pounds, 1 ounce, and 6 pounds, 3 ounces," Joshe says.
"This twin session was so important for me to capture," Melissa also told BabyCenter.
Of course, just because she has welcomed her daughters doesn't mean Joshe has stopped thinking about her sons. "It's sad sometimes. I wonder what the boys would be like if they were here, but I know I would not have my two girls if they were here."
That's a sentiment I hold onto now: maybe one day I'll welcome a new life into this world that I would never have known had our family not tragically, heartbreakingly lost the beloved baby we hoped and prayed for so long. I ca...
