Playtex recalls 3.6 million children's plates and bowls for choking hazard

Attention, parents: If your little ones use Playtex plates and bowls designed for children, then it's probably a good idea to heed this new recall. Playtex Products, LLC has announced a voluntary recall affecting roughly 3.6 million children's plates and bowls (and 1.9 million sold in Canada) for a potential choking hazard.
The problem
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC,) the clear plastic layer over the graphics can peel or bubble from the surface of these plates and bowls, which poses a choking hazard to young children. So far, there have been 372 reports of this happening ? in addition to 11 reports of pieces of the detached clear plastic found in children?s mouths. This includes four reports of choking on a piece of the clear plastic layer.
Product description
This recall involves Playtex children's plates and bowls, which were sold at Babies?R?Us, Target, Walmart, among other stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com from October 2009 through August 2017. They cost about $2.50 for a single plate or bowl and $15 for a mealtime set.
The plates have a variety printed designs, including cars, construction scenes, giraffes, princesses, superheroes and more. These white polypropylene plates and bowls also have a colored rim on top and a non-slip bottom. "Playtex" is written on the bottom of the plates and bowls, which were sold separately and together as sets.
