You spot them out of the corner of your eye when reaching for the pile of comfy pants. They call to you from the dresser drawer, taunting you with their empty promises. Wear meeee. Just try me on. C'mon. I'ts been long enough. Your butt hasn't change one bit. Do it. What stretchmarks" We'll always fit for you.
They're your pre-pregnancy jeans -- AKA denim assholes luring you in with whispers filled with lies.
So let's get real.
For several months after delivering a baby, your body is still recovering from growing and expelling a human being and well, it's different. Squishier. Wider in some areas than before. Foreign, yet vaguely familiar. Yet the pressure to "bounce back" is still there. So, new mamas, let's all do ourselves a favor and just lock away our pre-pregnancy jeans for a good 6 months minimum. Deal" Because we definitely don't need that added stress on top of all the other unrealistic expectations of new motherhood.
One mom in the BabyCenter Community learned this the hard way when she tested out her pre-kid jeans just two weeks postpartum.
"I've already lost 30 of the 60 I gained and I'm still a little swollen even two weeks later due to the pre-eclampsia. But I decided to go and try on my old jeans just to see how close I am to fitting them again. Wrong move. I can't even get them over my hips," she wrote.
