Proof that Easter is a super weird holiday for kids, and parents
by Carolyn Robertson posted in Parenting
Easter is a holiday that marks the resurrection of Jesus, so we celebrate by having a giant bunny hide chocolate around the house while we sleep and eating copious amounts of sugar-coated marshmallow baby chicks.
Makes sense, right"
It's not hard to see why Easter can sometimes seem a bit confusing for kids.
Our family isn't very religious, so Easter in our house pretty much revolves around the big bunny and the egg hunt. To me, this is my kids' greatest leap of faith. I understand an unwavering belief in Santa Claus. He's like everyone's favorite grandpa: Jolly and sweet, and he always comes bearing gifts. Wrapping your head around the Tooth Fairy requires a little more imagination, but there is magic in the idea of pixies and sprites to begin with. An enormous, anthropomorphic, often creepy-looking rabbit stomping around your living room while you sleep, though" That takes it to a whole new level.
A visit to Twitter today revealed some very funny, slightly awkward observations about Easter from other parents:
4-year-old: I know the Easter bunny doesn't really lay eggs.
Me: Then who does"
4: Jesus.

I'm vegan and I also don't allow processed sugar in my home so on Easter I just hide carrots and my kids cry.
