Remember these women on Mother's Day

This year will be my ninth Mother's Day. I spent my first one in a hospital room a few days after my daughter was born. My aunt and cousin brought Italian food to my room, and we feasted to celebrate the occasion. I was a single mom and didn't expect anything, so I was surprised and pleased that they had thought of me.
From that point on, Mother's Day was always pretty enjoyable to me. As long as I had my daughter, and whatever craft her daycare sent home to commemorate the day, I was happy. Unfortunately, the day isn't always filled with joy for some. While I would never suggest that we stop celebrating the day, I think we can all probably stand to be aware that Mother's Day isn't great for every woman.
Foster mothers
Foster moms are such a blessing, but their roles can feel complicated on Mother's Day. The children she's caring for may feel confused, and the foster mom might not want to make them feel uncomfortable. If the biological mother is present, the day could feel even more tough. Check on your foster mom friends on Mother's Day, and remind them how loved they are.
Women who are trying to conceive
