Sick kid won't eat" Try these frozen fruity lozenges
by Lindsay Weiss posted in Life
I made these out of desperation when my 5-year-old refused to eat or drink because his throat hurt so badly. The ibuprofen wasn't helping much and he blatantly refused to swallow anything. He would nurse a popsicle, but not quickly enough and it just kept making a mess.
Enter these little frozen lozenges.
I was in a pinch, so made them out of whatever I had in the fridge. In my case, it was V8 Fusion juice and a random bottle of Powerade. These actually worked GREAT -- the V8 Fusion in Grape Raspberry was a major hit -- but the sky is the limit on what you use to make these. If your kid has the stomach flu and can only tolerate Sprite" Done. If their throat is sore and they want something creamy" Pour yogurt into the ice tray for frozen yogurt lozenges. If you want fruit without all the food coloring and sugar, puree it with water and some honey and freeze it. I can't tell you what lifesavers these were for us. And they were such a hit that we actually keep them regularly in our freezer and the kids will pop a few for dessert.
Necessity is the mother of invention right"
p.s. I got the ice cube trays from Amazon. They're perfect for this because they're small and rounded.
