Skip the sniff test: New sensor sends you dirty diaper alerts
by Whitney Barthel posted in Products
Korean company Monit has recently developed a sensor that -- you guessed it -- can detect urine and feces in a baby?s diaper. American customers will be able to purchase this new parenting must-have summer 2017.
Monit?s sensor is puck-sized and uses complicated algorithms to determine if your babe's nappy is wet or soiled. The device reads temperature, humidity, and gas outside baby?s diaper.
The Bluetooth-enabled device comes with its own app and reports to your smart phone in real time. No more waking baby from a nap to check their diaper and no more languishing in a dirty diaper for hours on end. This, in turn, means less skin irritation and less diaper rash.
And while ?smart diaper? technology may not be a new idea, Monit is different in that it doesn?t go inside the baby?s diaper or touch the baby?s skin. Along with its non-touch technology, the device is also non-disposable. Unlike ?smart diapers,? the Monit can be reused and repurposed as an air quality monitor after your child is potty trained. The Monit sensor was developed by six dads who are all former Samsung employees. Monit?s debut was at the 2016 ABC Kids Expo and is scheduled to go on the market in August.
The company was officially established in April 2017 and now has a ?smart? baby carrier in the works too. Be sure to keep an eye and ear out for this new company and their cool, techy products.
Would you use a dirty diaper sensor on your baby"
