So here's my dilemma: I want a fourth baby, but my husband doesn't. And I have no good reason to back up my baby fever.
Truth be told, my husband would have been perfectly fine had we stopped at two children. We had one boy and one girl -- the "perfect" family. It took a lot of convincing, but my husband eventually got on board with baby number three. "This is the last one, I promise!" I declared. Especially toward the end of my third pregnancy, I was all like, "Yeah, I'm never doing this again." We even sold a bunch of boy clothes because our third was girl.
Surprise! Now that our youngest is 16 months old, baby fever has reared its ugly head again. I'm like the mom who cried wolf.
For several months now I've been dropping unsubtle hints to my husband, like, "When we have another baby ..." or "June would be a good birth month, don't you think"" The father of my three children simply gives me "the look" and insists he's done. Still, other than this passive-aggressive banter, we haven't had a serious conversation about adding to our family -- until the other night. Here's the list of cons he came up with:
