Something had to break before I asked for help

I was outside weeding my garden when I heard the screaming. I paused, but remained outside. My husband, Tré, was on duty and I didn't want to interfere with his parenting by offering help when it wasn't needed.
Then I heard a bellow and a loud crash and then a "Kelly! Come in here!"
I surveyed the scene quickly as I rushed through the front door. Tré was on the floor in the hallway, Annie, our baby, was screaming, and the girls sat on the couch looking quite shocked at the whole thing.
I got Annie so I could comfort her and Tré could stand up. He sat down in a chair and it was then that we realized he was bleeding, rather profusely, from his elbow. My 5-year-old got up to get him a Band-Aid while he and Annie both calmed down. My husband was in such shock, he told me what happened and then he tried to go finish nailing something in the laundry room. Here's what happened: Evie, our 2-year-old, was pulling our 5-year-old's hair and wouldn't let go. Tré bellowed from the other room for them to stop as he hurried out into the living room. He was wearing socks and slipped on our hardwood floors carrying the baby.
Both of them fell in the hallway, with Tré landing on his elbow to protect Annie. Despite being terrified, Annie was unscathed. We let Vivi apply some first aid and thought we were out of the woods.
