Spine-tingling photos prove once and for all that fed is best
by Carolyn Robertson posted in Parenting
The decision whether to breastfeed or bottle feed your child is an extremely personal one, but that doesn't seem to stop friends, family members and even complete strangers from weighing in.
Canadian photographer Mikaela Bodkin is hoping her "Fed is Best" photo project will help put an end to the breast vs. bottle debate by showing that moms on both sides are doing their very best to nurture and care for their babies.
"There's a lot of mom-shaming still going on," Mikaela tells TODAY. "But I wanted to highlight that we should stop judging moms and their choices and what they do."
The stunning series of images captures both breast- and bottle-feeding mothers, and shows that the differences between us are far fewer - and far less important - than what we all share in common. After all, we all love our children.
Though she doesn't have children herself, Mikaela feels a connection to this sometimes controversial topic. She was adopted from a Romanian orphanage as an infant by her Canadian parents and says that she "[relied] on bottle-feedings to survive."
Mikaela reveals that many of the moms she has photographed have stories of feeling judged or shamed for the way they choose to feed their kids.
