Stacie Lewis: Saying goodbye to one of our own

Over the weekend, we were deeply saddened to hear that Stacie Lewis, a longtime blogger for BabyCenter in the U.S. and the U.K., died surrounded by family in her home after an extensive battle with leukemia.
For those who are new to the BabyCenter Blog, Stacie began writing for BabyCenter back in 2011 when she was pregnant with her second child. She was a fantastic writer, who had a talent for blending humor with fearless honesty, sucking the reader into her story with every word.
Stacie's journey was unique and emotional because her first child, May, was born severely brain-damaged. During her second pregnancy, her readers hoped and prayed for the best and were overjoyed when she delivered a healthy and happy baby boy named Ieuan.
Then in June of 2013, Stacie shocked everyone when she announced she had been diagnosed with leukemia.
When I spoke to her shortly after the diagnosis, she was pissed off and ready for a fight. We all were.
The next few years were a roller coaster of treatments, glimmers of hope, and more bad news. But even in 2014 when she found out the cancer had returned, she was still writing and still determined to fight, not only for her own life but for the rights of disabled children everywhere.
How she handled the devastating news that her cancer had returned is a testament to her character, and something we all should admire.
