Teacher pleaser: Easy last-day-of-school pretzel "apple" bites
by Lindsay Weiss posted in Life
Searching for a last minute gift for some special teachers in your life" These are PERFECT. They're simple and quick to put together and so darn addicting to eat! The salty/sweet chocolate pretzel combo is a winner and the little M&M apples might just earn you some extra credit.
Here's all you need to throw these together:
Square pretzels
Wilton Dark Cocoa Candy Melts (from Wal-Mart or local craft store)
MINI M&Ms ? Red and Green (pull out of a larger package)
Note: You will only want to do about 8-10 at a time because the chocolate hardens back up while you place the M&Ms on.
Preheat oven to 350.
Place 8-10 square pretzels on a silpat or parchment-lined cookie sheet. Cover the pretzels with a Wilton Chocolate Melt (you can also use a Hershey?s Kiss but they don't melt quite as neatly.) Place in oven for about a minute, but watch closely. You want the candy melts to be melted enough to press the M&Ms into, but not so melted that the candy melt loses its shape. The candy melts will get very glossy on top and that's how you'll know they're ready. Once the candy melts are softened, place six red Mini M&M?s on the melted chocolate. Add two green Mini M&M?s, placed on their sides, at the top of the apple to represent the apple stem/leaves.
Let harden for at least 30 minutes before packaging.
