It's 2006. My hubby is in our kitchen playing with our oldest (and only at the time). Like a scene from a movie, he is swinging her around, ring-around-the-rosy style, her infectious giggles filling the room. In a split second the giggles are usurped by a scream, followed by a wide-eyed silence. My daughter is staring at her arm, which looks okay but she's holding it protectively against her tummy.
Fast forward to 2009. We're in the café at Nordstrom and Jeff is (once again) swinging our middle child as we advance through the line. Swing. Stop. Swing. Stop. Suddenly, our 2-year-old's arm went slack and hung limply at his side. He didn't utter a sound but looked up at us with big crocodile tears as if to say "What have you done to me"" Oh, hey! Hello there 2014! We're watching our 2-year-old through the window of a toddler gymnastics class when we're stunned with a blood-curdling scream. He's standing in the middle of a foam pit sobbing, but we have no idea why. The only thing off is that his right arm is hanging straight at his side while his left is gesturing wildly.
