The postpartum photos my preschooler took of me made me cry

In February we brought a newborn home to her two excited big sisters. The first reaction of our 21-month-old, Evie, was to find the baby's binky and give it to her. Our older daughter Vivi, 4, wanted to make sure she had dolls to play with when she was ready to wake up. Both wanted to hold her, give her kisses, and smile with her for the camera.
I'd read enough mommy blogs before giving birth to know baby Annie should come bearing gifts, just in case introductions didn't go as planned. "Annie" gave Evie a baby carrier that matched mommy's blue-and-mint polka dot Ergo and Vivi got a VTech Kidizoom camera.
This was Vivi's first camera and she was thrilled to have a little bit of technology at her fingertips. She began taking pictures immediately and within a week had completely filled the camera's memory. It was a few weeks later when I finally transferred her pictures onto my computer, discovering in those 237 photos what she saw and experienced that first week. Of course, there were many pictures of ceiling fans, the TV, hardwood floors, blurry nothingness, and complete darkness, but these few made it worth it.
Here's one of me and Annie. I like how brightly I smile for Vivi's camera. It's not a fake smile because I'm genuinely smiling at my daughter, in bed, probably after breastfeeding, and full of oxytocin.
