These beautiful rainbow babies are actually biracial twins

We've seen a lot of moving and memorable photos celebrating rainbow babies in recent months, but the story behind this one is truly remarkable.
You may not think it to look at them, but not only are the beautiful babies in this viral photo sisters -- they're twins!
When Illinois mom Whitney Meyer first saw her daughters Jarani and Kalani after their birth last year, she admits even she couldn't quite believe her eyes.
"I asked the doctor why Kalani's skin was so white!" she says. ?"I couldn?t figure out why she looked so different from her sister."
It turns out that twins born to interracial couples have a 1 in 500 chance of having different skin colors. Kalani shares her mother's lighter complexion while Jarani inherited her dad Tomas Dean's darker skin. That's not the only reason Whitney calls her girls her "miracle babies," though.
The twins' birth followed a devastating tragedy: In 2014, Whitney's 2-year-old son, Pravyn, died in a drowning accident while at daycare. He was rushed to the hospital after he was found unresponsive in the swimming pool, but sadly doctors were unable to revive him. Pravyn passed away in his mother's arms.
Whitney says that Jarani looks just like her big brother: "They are identical. When I look at pictures of J, I see Pravyn."
