This mom ranting about homework is every one of us

Bunmi Laditan has had it with homework.
The mom and author responsible for The Honest Toddler posted a message on Facebook this week that resonated with any of us who've ever sat down with an exhausted kid to do homework at the end of a long day. In a word: it sucks.
"My 10-year-old loves learning. She independently reads 10-12 chapter books a year and regularly researches topics that interest her (right now she's writing a story about wolves). She takes coding classes, loves painting, and likes something called Roblox that I don't fully understand. But over the past four years I've noticed her getting more and more stressed when it comes to school. And by stressed I mean chest pains, waking up early, and dreading school in general." Ohhhh, I've been there. And let me tell you, few things sound dumber coming out of your mouth than, "Close your book and stop reading -- you have work to do!" Seriously" How did we get here" How am I at a point where I'm telling my kids to stop reading about stuff so they can fill out a worksheet" It's like the time I tried to tell my kids to stop eating granola bars because we were going to Chuck E. Cheese and I didn't want them to ruin their dinner.
