This year's flu is worth missing school for

As a mom, the only thing worse than seeing your kids not feeling well is seeing your kids puke all over your house because they're not feeling well.
With a house full of little, little kids, this year's particularly brutal strain of the flu totally rocked my world. Perhaps it seemed worse than it was because it was the first time in my family's history that we were all taken out by the same bug. Perhaps it was because instead of the typical 24-hour bug with one or two instances of vomit, this year's strain left my boys with the chills, aching bodies, and rotten tummies for two or more days.
Yep, my family's first run-in with influenza left us totally out of commission for over a week. And, from what I hear, experts are saying I wasn't just imagining how particularly brutal this season's flu has proven to be. (*See: 16 more children dead from flu; peak still to come, CDC says) In an interview with BabyCenter, Dr. Jack Maypole, Director of the Comprehensive Care Program at Boston Medical Center and Executive Advisory Board Member at The Goddard School, stated
"Flu is always bad amongst kids. That in itself is not new? [However] this year's flu strain has proven to be a nastier, more virulent form of influenza. When this happens, those in the population who tend to be less resistant to severe diseases -- such as the young or elderly -- are impacted more than the general population."
So pretty much our whole BabyCenter communi...
