Turkey tip: DON'T cook your turkey breast in the oven!
by Lindsay Weiss posted in Life & Home
My side of the family stopped cooking a whole turkey for Thanksgiving a few years ago. It feels a little anti-climactic not to pull a golden, juicy bird out of the oven but, at the end of the day, no one ever ate the dark meat. We are breast people, heh heh. And so it felt so wasteful to cook the whole thing.
The thing about turkey breast is that it dries out so quickly, even as part of a whole bird. But when it's by itself" Forget about it. The oven is not a friend of turkey breast. But do you know what is"
The Crock Pot.
It's a win-win because your oven is free for all the other Thanksgiving stuff, and your turkey is tucked away in a nice little vessel that keeps it juicy and fork tender. And it still makes your house smell amazing! We actually cook a turkey breast in the Crock Pot pretty often. It makes a ton of great leftovers for the week, and it's really hard to mess up. And, for special occasions, you can still make gravy right from the drippings collected from the Crock Pot.

Tender Crock Pot Turkey Breast
(Make sure your breast is within 5-6 lbs or it might not fit in your Crock Pot! I use the Weber Roasted Garlic & Herb Seasoning because it's delish and so much faster than measuring a bunch of stuff out. It's right in the spice aisle.)
1 bone-in turkey breast (5-6 pounds), completely thawed
