There was no time for childbirth playlists or epidurals when it came time for Indiana couple Lauren and Noah Strunk to welcome their son last month. In fact, the expectant parents barely had time to pull the car to the side of the road before their baby boy made his very speedy arrival.
A roadside birth is pretty rare, but what's even more remarkable about the Strunks' birth story is the entire thing was caught on film, thanks to professional photographer Stephanie Knowles of Jaiden Photography.
Lauren began having contractions on the night of February 21. She called a babysitter to come stay with their 3-year-old son Harrison, and texted Stephanie, who they'd hired to snap pictures of the birth, to let her know what was going on. Instead of meeting them at the hospital as planned, the photographer decided to head straight to the couple's house while they waited for the sitter. Thank goodness she did!
By the time they made it to the hospital, Lauren knew she didn't have any time to spare.
"It all happened so fast," she says.
"I whipped into the hospital, missed my turn, we ended up at the front entrance, which was closed," dad Noah tells TODAY. "I was trying to turn around and she stopped me pretty adamantly and said, 'You have to put the car in park, you need to come over here and catch the baby.'"
