Rest assured, her baby is still there and is just fine. This type of abdominal exercise -- referred to as belly pumping -- is all part of a methodology called the Bloom Method, which was founded by Brooke Cates five years ago in Boulder, Colorado.
"The goal is to help women re-train their breathing patterns and tap into their deep core, their inner core unit -- the diaphragm, the pelvic floor, the transverse abdominal muscle and the multifidus -- to support pregnancy, to help them feel a little bit more in control of their birth, as far as the pushing phase," Cates, a certified personal trainer, told BabyCenter. "These are techniques that will support, especially active exercising women, for the rest of their lives." The Bloom Method can offer a number of benefits for pregnant women -- both physically and emotionally --  Cates explained in an Instagram post. They include:
1) Maintaining a connection to the deep core muscles throughout pregnancy.
