Wait: Does pregnancy lead to childbirth"!

For some crazy reason, it's one thing to see a positive pregnancy test, and a whole other mind-bend to come to grips with the idea of actually having a baby -- who'll grow into a tot, then a child, then a tween, teen, and then a real-deal person!
I know for sure that when my first pregnancy test grew two pink lines my mind could hardly expand beyond the life-altering recognition that I was pregnant. Forget all that parenthood hoopla; I had to first wrap my head around being with child. Of course, I intellectually knew being pregnant meant I'd have a kid to raise, but I'll be damned if my brain was willing and/or able to reach that far ahead in the early weeks and months.
That is, perhaps, why I feel some kinship with dads-to-be who were a little slow to warm up to the idea of having a baby (toddler, child, tween, teen future adult) on the way. It's a topic members of the BabyCenter Community have also recently been discussing. User sarahw43 recently submitted a post titled "My husband just realized I'm going to have a baby."
