What's the going rate for the Tooth Fairy these days" Not as much as you might think

I'll never forget the day at school drop-off when I overheard a kid excitedly tell his teacher the tooth fairy had left him $100.
My jaw about hit the floor. (Heck, I might consider knocking out a few of my own teeth for that kind of cash.) At our house, the tooth fairy dropped $5 when my son lost his first tooth -- and I thought that was extravagant at the time.
Unfortunately for our 6-year-old, the tooth fairy got progressively cheaper as time went on. The second tooth came out about a week later and that time, he only found 2 bucks under his pillow. And for the third tooth" The tooth fairy dropped the ball entirely. Because by the time morning rolled around, our son's baby tooth was still there -- untouched -- and there was no prize. Parent Tooth fairy fail.
These experiences have left me wondering: What does the tooth fairy, on average, leave for kids"Â (Because there's no way $100 is the norm.) And how does what the tooth fairy brings today compare to past generations"
Well, LendEDU recently surveyed 1,238 Americans to figure this all out for parents. Here's a look at what the survey found:
Generation Zers (ages 6-23) are receiving an average of $3.25 per tooth from the Tooth Fairy
Millennials (ages 24-38) received an average of $2.13 per tooth when they were younger.
Generation Xers (ages 39-53) received an average of $1.39 per tooth when they were younger.
