What do you mean babies don't come on their due dates"
by Sara McGinnis posted in Parenting
If you don't have much experience with pregnancy and babies, there's an awful lot to learn. That's why I can't blame those who get a few things twisted.
Recently I saw some of our BabyCenter Community members talking about misconceptions they had (including a few who thought the baby's belly button was attached to the mother's belly button by the umbilical cord), and then this headline by krista0203 caught my eye: "Hubby actually thought babies came ON their due date! Lol!"
She went on to elaborate: "So yeah, he literally believed that a due date was an exact science 'within one day in either direction.'"
Don't we all wish that was true" Sadly, the BabyCenter Experts report only 1 in 20 women delivers on her due date. But let's hear this dad-to-be out. Krista0203 went on to share his "analogy was, 'When you buy off Amazon [and] get an expected delivery date do you not expect it on that date"' Omg, yes hubby, BUT this is a baby not Amazon prime..!"
I have to agree it's a little bit funny he didn't know due dates are really estimated due dates, but can you blame him" In an era of smart phones and drone deliveries you'd almost expect the medical profession to have made some sort of improvement with their accuracy.
After I got over the shock of finding out I was pregnant for the first time, October 5 was burned in my brain. That was the day I was due to become a mom, and soon our world revolved...
