What is your baby food label really saying"

I still remember how nervous I was to give my son his first solid food. I spent evenings reading up on what to do and how to feed him. I bought brand-new baby spoons and bowls and sanitized them like crazy. I made my husband stand right next to me, just in case. (In case of what I don't know -- what could possibly go wrong") Then I chickened out altogether.
So I went back to the store and started reading baby food labels. And you know what" For something that seems like it should be simple, baby food labels are super confusing. They really are.
"Organic" is good, right" What about "non-GMO"" "All-natural"" Those all sound like important things, but what do they really mean"
Since I had to look it all up, I thought it might be nice if I shared it with you so you don't have to! Here's the scoop:
Organic: The U.S. Dept of Agriculture says organic ingredients have to be produced without pesticides, GMOs, ionizing radiation, or sewage sludge (um. Ew). But you can also have "100% organic" or just plain "organic" foods -- the plain ol' "organic" label lets you use up to 5% of non-organic stuff. And you can label certain ingredients in your food organic, and combine them with other, non-organic stuff. The best idea is to look for the "USDA Organic" label on your food -- and check the ingredients.
