When fantasies about your perfect pregnancy meet gritty reality

Back in January, I wrote a post about all the things I would do if I was lucky enough to get pregnant again. Like go out to dinner with my husband all the time so we could enjoy being together before baby arrives. And indulge in reflexology.
Well, I was lucky enough to conceive, and I am so, so happy.
And sick as a dog.
And exhausted.
Can you please hold on while I go back in time and kick my own butt for being so naive as to idealize pregnancy so fantastically"
I mean, you'd think I would know better as a soon-to-be fourth time mom. But ohhh no! I still conveniently forgot how brutal pregnancy can be. Consider these fantasies I had about being pregnant, and now, my reality. Pregnancy fantasy #1: I'd maintain my healthy diet throughout. I basically eat a vegan diet, with a few exceptions. Yup, I'm one of those annoying people who doesn't do carbs or refined sugar, and actually enjoys noshing on kale and tofu. Go ahead, feel free to pelt me with nutritional yeast and tempeh. Anyway, when I found out I was with child, I fully planned to stay on course with my regular diet.
Pregnancy reality: Hahahahaha! The joke was on me and my pantry full of quinoa. Because, as many pregnant women understand, when you are battling morning sickness, eating is all about survival.
