"It looked like they pulled a toddler out of my belly," says Florida mom Chrissy Corbitt of her very beautiful, very big baby Carleigh.
The newborn tipped the scales at 13 lbs., 5 oz. when she was delivered via c-section at Orange Park Medical Center on May 15. Chrissy and her husband Larry, who have four other children as well, admit they were shocked when they learned just how big their bundle of joy was.
?When the doctor was pulling her out of me I just start hearing them all laughing and excited in the operating room,? Chrissy says. ?They were throwing out numbers and when they showed her to me and said 13.5 I couldn?t believe it.?
It sounds like even the medical staff was blown away by the surprising birth: ?It was so funny because she had a c-section so all the blankets were over her so you couldn?t see what was going on,? proud papa Larry explains. ?The doctor said, ?Oh my gosh, she?s going to be 15 pounds.? According to BabyCenter stats, the average weight for newborn girls is between 6.5 to 7.8 pounds. In other words, Carleigh is around twice as big as many babies.
