Yes! It matters for us as adults, it matters for children, and it definitely matters for babies.
Different colors of produce signal high concentrations of various vitamins, minerals, and other good things for your body. For growing babies and children, getting a wide variety of these nutrients is vital to maintaining health and development.
Here are a few examples:
Red and orange fruits and veggies are a good source of vitamins A and C, which are important for normal vision and the immune system
Yellow fruits and veggies like bananas and papayas are a great source of potassium, an electrolyte which also helps with bone health (and as you get older, can help prevent muscle cramps) Green vegetables like kale and spinach are full of iron which helps prevent anemia and maintains healthy cells, hair, and nails
