Zendaya left class over bullying, but it's not what you think

As the mother of a child who just started middle school, bullying is never far from my mind. I worry, of course, that he'll be the target of tween nastiness, but also that he won't step up to help someone else who's a victim -- but would I pull him out of class if he failed to"
I've never really considered that possibility before, but it happened to Zendaya's parents and they took swift action.
The 20-year-old actress and singer recently opened up about her schooling years while talking with Glamour, explaining her parents took her out of her fifth grade class because she stood by and watched another kid get bullied.
"They pulled me out of the classroom, and I got a little bit cussed out," she told the magazine. "I was like, ?This is B.S. I didn?t do anything.? But the point was, when you see something happening, you don?t just stand there. Knowing something is wrong and not doing anything is basically like doing it."
From what I understand, Zendaya's parents are teachers (or at least used to be, they have since retired), and so that could explain how they knew what was going on and were able to respond immediately. Me" I try every afternoon to pull the details of what went on during the day out of my kids, but usually don't get much.
I think that's why I can't quite imagine pulling my child from class to give them an earful about being a bystander. Unfortunately the odds are it's already happened, but ...
