Zooey Deschanel was deprived of her airplane privileges

Zooey Deschanel waited 35 whole years to become a mom and cash in on one of the few perks parenting affords a person in the flying world. Finally, the big day arrived -- but the actress and baby girl Elise weren't given the green light to board early.
"Travelling I think is really hard," the first-time mom, who is now 36, said while chatting on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "[My daughter is] great on a plane but they stop letting people go first with babies and there's so much stuff.
"I was really excited about this privilege that you get to go on first if you have a baby. The first time we went on a plane with her I was like, 'OK, we're ready!' and they (the staff) were like, 'No, you can't come on (yet)... The people who get on first pay a lot of money for this privilege.'"
When Ellen inquired which airline this hiccup happened with, Zooey Deschanel (pictured here with husband Jacob Pechenik) coyly stated its name rhymes with "Bamerican."
As someone who flew just recently, although it wasn't with the alluded-to culprit, I'm surprised to hear "passengers with small children who may need extra time to board the aircraft" weren't invited on early! As far as I knew, this was still a thing.
In fact, as I was standing in the lobby just my solo self, a mom with two carseats came up behind me just after our airline had made the call. "Kids have been invited to board already," I told her. ...
