1. Sled Island
Rock out with your kids at this year?s Sled Island music and arts festival! You can buy individual tickets for a number of all-ages shows or, if you?d like to check out more than one concert, pick up an all-ages pass for your little one (the pass costs $50 and grants access to all of the all-ages venues). Depending on who you want to see, you may not have to pay for your kids at all because the shows at Olympic Plaza are free for ages 12 and under. Bands playing at this venue this year include indie-rock favourites Guided by Voices and Built to Spill.

2. Calgary Folk Music Festival
This 37-year-old festival, which features a wide variety of music despite its name, is known for its family-friendly culture. In fact, it?s a tradition for many people (known as ?tarpies?) to line up at Prince?s Island Park for hours to get in first so they can set up a tarp as a home base for their friends and family in front of the main stage. Kids under 13 get in free, and there is a special spot just for little ones in the Family Zone, which is open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There, you?ll find a jumping castle, face painting, crafts, games, a cardboard box city that everyone can help build and more!
