The risk of your kid doing a stupid dare is no longer limited to peer pressure at school. Any child with access to social media can be exposed to these sometimes gross, sometimes dangerous YouTube challenges that are trending online.
Childish (and sometimes harmful) dares are nothing new. For instance, ?bloody knuckles? and ?hand slaps? are pain-inducing games that kids and teenagers have been playing for years. Another challenge, the choking game, has even been deadly in the recent past.
But today, kids are not only performing dares for their own entertainment?they’re posting videos of themselves doing them in order to gain online traction. Instead of performing a challenge for a cheap thrill, the new incentive is getting more likes and views.
