A-Level Results Day: The Success Stories 2018
Despite new ?tougher? exams, with course work and modules being scrapped, 2018 sees the highest number of top grades for A-Level results in six years.
In independent schools, the results are no less impressive with another solid performance from the sector this year.

36% of all grades awarded were at A*
74% of all grades awarded were at A* or A
91% of all grades awarded were at A*, A or B
25 individual students gained 3 A* grades or better
83 individual students received at least 3 A* or A grades
Felsted School, Essex
  84 students took A-Levels at Felsted in 2018
  65% of all grades were A* or A
  Almost 90% of all grades were C or better   The pass rate was higher than 99%
Headmaster Chris Townsend commented: ?This is a very pleasing set of results, especially in a year when there has been a great deal of change to A-Levels. They reflect a great deal of hard work from students and teachers, and I am very pleased to see so many Felsted pupils going off to the best universities around the world.”
Farnborough Hill, Surrey
61% of grades were A* / A, with 87% at A*, A or B. These results were the best in 10 years for the Catholic girls? Senior School.
Mayfield School, Sussex
20% of all entries were awarded A*, with almost 60% graded A*/A and 80% A*/B
Almost one-third of all girls were awarded three or more A*/A grades
