Apple?s new Clips app was basically made for parents

After my kid?s last birthday party, I experienced what must be a common quandary of the digital age.
I had taken all sorts of adorable clips of the party?s highlights?my kid modelling his stylin? party outfit, the three-year-old guests sing-yelling ?Happy Birthday,? the present-opening in all its hilarious chaos?but later that night, it was impossible to choose which clip to share on Facebook and Instagram. They were all so stinkin? cute.
I?ve seen my tech-savvy friends edit clips together to make cute mini movies to post on social media, but I don?t know the first thing about video editing, and anyway, ain?t no mom got time for that.
Until now. Apple has just released a new app called Clips for iPhone and iPad that?s basically a video editor for total noobs. Here?s how it works: Say your kid is heading to his first soccer game of the season. You take some pictures and videos of him (either with your iPhone or iPad’s camera app or directly within the Clips app) throughout the process: getting his cleats on, scoring a goal, celebrating his win, eating a post-game snack, etc. To make them into a single video in Clips, you move the photos and videos around using a drag-and-drop function, insert captions and emojis right onto the screen, add background music (there are dozens of songs to choose from), and finish it all off with title and end cards.
