Following the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8th September 2022, private schools from across the country have been sharing touching tributes to our longest reigning monarch
After serving 70 years on the throne, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral on Thursday 8th September. As the world mourns, moving tributes are pouring in from British private schools, many of which have royal connections or were even lucky enough to be visited by Her Majesty during her reign.

“The entire Gordonstoun community is saddened to learn of the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Our late Queen had a very close connection to the school through her husband and former student, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, as well as her three sons who attended the school, including King Charles III, and two of her grandchildren. “The Queen regularly visited the school both formally and informally, taking a close interest in the progress of the princes and watching them on stage or on the sports field.Â
Principal of Gordonstoun, Lisa Kerr, said ?Queen Elizabeth II will be fondly remembered.We remember our late Queen sitting alongside Prince Philip in seats reserved with pieces of paper which simply said, ?Mum? and ?Dad?.
