Britain’s teenagers are said to be ?among the unhappiest in the world?, (The Times, February 2017), and teenage mental health problems are big news.
So what is going on behind these shocking mental health headlines"
In a 2021 study by the NHS, one in six 6-19 year olds were found to have probable mental health disorders. Children suffering with such issues were twice as likely to have missed more than 15 days of school in the autumn term of 2020.
The study highlighted direct correlations between deteriorating mental health in children over the many lockdowns full of social isolation and school shut downs. Children’s Mental Health Week 2022:
This week marks Children’s Mental Health Week 2022, so child and teenage mental health is well and truly under the spotlight. Â
Children’s Mental Health Week is a campaign by the charity Place2Be, to shine a spotlight on the importance of mental health in children and young people.

Place2Be offer free resources for schools, and for this year’s Children’s Mental Health week, they have teamed up with BAFTA kids to create two virtual assemblies.
