Rugby School hosts an international tournament
One of the biggest international U18s schools Rugby Sevens tournaments took place at Rugby School, to celebrate the school?s 450th anniversary. Twelve teams from Scotland, South Africa, Australia, Japan, Canada, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, Wales and England were invited to play, and rugby greats such as Jason Leonard and Martin Johnson also attended the event.
More than 1,000 people came to watch, and over 10,000 people tuned into a live-stream broadcast, which was arranged by the school?s staff. After two exciting days of matches, it was the Hilton College team from South Africa who came out on top, scoring 22-7 against Clifton College, Bristol. Beauty and the Beast performance at The Abbey School
Budding thespians at The Abbey School in Reading took to the stage to perform a spellbinding adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.
Dancing furniture and cooking utensils were brought to life with the help of the costume designers in the school?s talent textiles department, while the principal characters delivered outstanding vocal and acting performances, supported by the energetic chorus.
Musical Director, Stephen Willis added: “It?s a daunting challenge to take on a musical of this complexity ? but we have certainly given Disney a run for its money!”
